NCWSC CRACKS DOWN ON ILLEGAL WATER CONNECTIONS

The Company recently carried out crackdown on illegal water connections at Kiambiu informal settlement in Kamkunji Sub-County.  The exercise is aimed at bringing on board customers to regularize their connections and address the water losses.

The exercise was jointly spearheaded by the Informal Settlement Region together with the Non-Revenue Water Department; Informal Settlement Manager Eng. Kagiri Gicheha said the exercise was a success since there was community and stakeholder involvement.

“We have been able to bring all the stakeholders on board as we were able to hold a series of consultative meetings prior to the crackdown. The Churches, Mosques, political leadership and Non-Governmental Organizations are part and parcel of this initiative. Water and Sanitation for the Urban Poor (WSUP) has been very instrumental in community mobilization.” He said.

The crackdown will also see the disconnected consumers connected online through the newly launched water and sewer portal.
